Pledge of Allegiance Unconstitutional, Court Says
Ok, everyone knows that the 9th Circuit is full of kooks. They are so kooky that no one dare use one of their decisions as prescident in a brief or filing unless you’re in the 9th Circuit. Thus knoweth any lawyer who successfully attended law school and passed a bar.
It is kind of amusing and sick to watch the politicians, many of whom are lawyers (with the noted exception of our Leerless Feeder, I think) pouncing on this for the publicity. I’ve heard it called called everything from amusing to unpatriotic. The last one bothers me a bit, because no matter how kookie it is, the judges on the bench made their decision in light of the wording of the Constitution; rather a patriotic act, in my opinion. For heaven’s sake, Ike added the words “under God”
to the pledge in the late ’50s, well within the lifetimes of many of these guys!
Lets just agree to drop the “war” pretence, shall we? On a related note, I have to wonder where the proposed dept of Homeland Security will be housed? The Joseph McCarthy building?
